Ojai Valley Inn wedding

Haley and Tanner gathered with 250 guests in early November to celebrate their Ojai Valley Inn wedding! Their wedding planner, Hailey of Detailed Touch Events, curated an exquisite weekend for the happy couple. Floral designer Fig Event Co. embraced an autumn palette of colors and textures, while stone and wood decor accents kept the design feeling organic and grounded.

The ceremony

Despite a forecast of light rain, the morning started with sunshine. The ceremony was planned for the Artist Cottage Lawn at Ojai Valley Inn, under the one of the resort’s famously stunning oak trees. The curved aisle led to a raised circular platform altar for the bride and groom, surrounded by textural autumn arrangements and a few stoneware accents.

Guests were greeted by a string quartet and the offer of Ojai Valley Inn’s umbrellas, as clouds had started to roll in. It sprinkled rain just as the processional began. Haley walked down the aisle, arm in arm with her dad. When she reached Tanner at the altar, the rain slowly stopped and guests tucked their umbrellas away. The officiant (the family’s pastor) abbreviated the ceremony so everyone could enjoy the shelter of the sailcloth tent waiting at cocktail hour, just in case it started to rain again (which it did, but not until well into the reception).

The reception

Guests were transported by covered golf carts to the Orchard Lawn at Ojai Valley Inn. Although it was definitely chilly weather, the rain held off for cocktail hour. This meant everyone could enjoy the beautiful colors of an Ojai sunset (also known as the “pink moment” by locals).

Detailed Touch Events and Fig Event Co. continued the tone set at the ceremony, with lush, free-flowing flowers and greenery adorning the entrance to the sailcloth tent. Effortless floral arrangements were placed on neutral patterned linens complemented by sage green dinnerware. Wooden textures continued with stonewashed wooden cane dining chairs and a grand four-sided oak bar as the focal piece of cocktail hour. The most magnificent statement pieces, though, were the custom checkerboard dance floor and the hanging floral installation above the head table!

After an incredible four-course meal, the talents of six-piece band Ben Mallare kept the dance floor packed all night! It was a magical day for Haley and Tanner. They enjoyed the best weekend ever and didn’t even mind the moment of rain.
